You are one of the lucky ones if you have had the same BEST friend for at least a decade.
Life happens and people change, so it’s such a sweet gift to have had the same best friend for TWENTY TWO years (this Halloween!).
That’s me and my best friend Kourtniee when we were in high school.
We’ve been best friends since we were in 7th grade, or Halloween Night 1998. We were both asked to come to a sleepover at a friend’s house on Halloween. We had never met before. I’m not sure why, but we clicked almost immediately. While I was in Paris, we were basically inseparable. She practically lived at my house most of the time. We’ve had our fair share of fights (what teenagers don’t!?), but we always work it out. I was her maid of honor when she got married in 2007, and she returned the favor when I got married in 2010.
We may live 800 miles apart, but we do our best to stay connected and usually talk just about every day. We have a cazillion secrets, that span 22 years, and would do just about anything for each other. We are the rocky to bullwinkle, the princess to a queen, the ying to the yang. I wish that we could spend every Halloween together; but the ones we have have definitely been evenings to remember (we need to do this again soon!)! Eventually, I KNOW, that when we get old, we’ll be together again in the same town, pushing those wheelchairs around and laughing hysterically about, well, everything. Because, that’s what we do. Kourt is my SISTER, and that’s all there is to that.
This last time we were in Paris, we decided to do some ‘bff’ photos with the new Dr Pepper mural that they just finished (we are both HUGE Dr Pepper fanatics). It was quite funny that when she showed up at my grandma’s and gave me some cookies that, of course, were in the shape of Dr Pepper. lol what a PERFECT little additive prop! It was so much fun! You can see them below 🙂
